The SNCF owns 53 z22500 units only used on the regional line RER E since 1999 but this train was used from 1996.

A new train costs 10M €. It can carry about 2500 passengers with 1100 seats so it's a very good train for crowded lines also thanks to its three wide doors per side.

A z22500 unit is composed of five vehicles : ZRBx (car), ZBx (engine), ZRB (car), ZAB (engine), ZRBx (car). It's used in single unit or multiple unit according to the attendance.
